Abstract The paper considers the notion of Science Policy from a postcolonial perspective. It examines theoretical implications recent trend to include emerging and developing countries in international Policies by way case study Switzerland. This country’s new science policy instruments measures have challenged classical distinction between scientific cooperation development cooperation, with consequences on standards evaluation criteria. analysis reveals that underlying assumptions concept perpetuate traditional asymmetries global political economy science. suggests present legacy institutions practices needs be transformed reflect an increasingly diverse spectrum purposes traditions. offers revised set foundational and, more broadly, proposes fresh point entry for field & Technology Studies (STS) contribute discourse.
